Schneider Electric on the road with China
That’s the name chosen by Schneider Electric in China for the opening ceremony of the new facilities for Schneider Shanghai Industrial Control Co. Ltd (SSIC) and DCSH, the Distribution Center, on 16th September, 2002.
In front of a public of 500 people, including customers, suppliers or government and media representatives and also employees from both entities, Henri Lachmann, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, put the emphasis on “ the potential for growth and development of the Chinese market as well as Schneider Electric’s intention to consolidate its position in this market in order to meet the clients growing demands in terms of end-to-end solutions ”.
SSIC, which has just moved to a new, larger and more modern plant (+ 3000 m2 compared to the old one), was created in 1995, and manufactures motor circuit breakers, contactors, thermal overload relays, push buttons and detection products under Telemecanique brand and employs 520 people. As regards the Distribution Center it has doubled its surface area, and employs 74 people.
Schneider Electric is present in China since 1987. It counts today 26 regional agencies, 11 joint ventures, 3 distribution centers, 2 training centers, 1 R&D center and 3800 employees. It has also developed a strategic partnership with its 400 distributors through a network covering 157 cities in an area spanning 10 million square kilometers.
