Schneider Electric partners Lafarge in China
Schneider Electric supplies all the medium and low voltage equipment necessary for the protection and distribution of the electrical networks, as well as the automation for the cement plant's control and monitoring systems.
Lafarge, world leader in building materials, inaugurated a new cement plant in Dujiangyan, in the province of Sichuan, central China, on June 4, 2002. With an annual capacity of 1.4 million tons of cement, this plant will employ a new dry process production line, the most efficient in technical and environmental terms. Through its subsidiary located in Beijing and its joint ventures, Schneider Electric is supplying all of the medium and low voltage equipment necessary for the protection and distribution of the electrical networks, as well as automation devices for the plant's monitoring and control systems. The installation includes a total of 70 MCSet medium voltage distribution cells, 150 low voltage distribution busbars and motor starters and around one hundred electrical enclosures. The latter contain the PLCs based on a distributed architecture comprising Altivar variable speed drives, 10 networked Quantum PLCs linked to the Ethernet fiberoptic networks, with more than 50remote Momentum I/Os. The automation system controls more than 8500 I/Os. Schneider Electric is also supplying a service package including research on electrical networks discrimination, management of automation programs and process monitoring and control systems, as well as training for cement works personnel.
