    Schneider Toshiba Inverter SAS

    Schneider Toshiba Inverter SAS, the joint venture between Schneider Electric and Toshiba Corporation opened industrial facilities one in Pacy-sur-Eure (France) and the other one in Mie (Japan). These plants will manufacture industrial speed drives (up to 630kW) for the industry and building markets.
    Schneider Toshiba Inverter SAS, world leader in its market, with 470 employees and sales of 200 million of euros in 2000, has a strong market position in Europe, Japan and United States. Today, volume growth in the industrial speed drive market represents more than 10%.
    Schneider Toshiba Inverter is a holding and global management company, in which Schneider Electric holds a 60% stake and Toshiba Corporation 40%. It controls two marketing, development, purchasing and production subsidiaries, Schneider Toshiba Inverter Europe (STIE) located in Pacy-sur-Eure (France) and Toshiba Schneider Inverter Corp. (TSIJ) in Mie (Japan). A third subsidiary is to be created in the United States next year.
    « Each subsidiary will market in its area both brands’ variable speed drives via the Schneider Electric and Toshiba distribution networks » said Elie Belbel, Chairman of Schneider Toshiba Inverter.
    The Management Committee comprises a Japanese Vice-Chairman French Marketing and Finance Vice-Chairman and a Japanese Technical Vice-Chairman.
    Schneider Toshiba Inverter SAS is the fruit of a ten year cooperation between Schneider Electric and Toshiba in the industrial control, variable speed drive and low voltage distribution sectors, along with a number of other joint ventures :
    1992 : joint-venture in Batam, Indonesia, to manufacture contactors,
    1998 : joint-venture in Nagoya, Japan, to develop common small variable speed drives,
    1999 : joint-venture in Japan to sell a joint range of electrical distribution and industrial control products.
