ISO 14001 certification for the Inofyta production facility in Greece

Schneider Electric’s low and medium voltage switchboard and transformer plant in Inofyta, Greece has been awarded ISO 14001 certification.
Analyzing the facility’s environmental impact proved to be a complex process due to the type of production carried out there, and a large number of sequences had to be reviewed and reorganized to meet the ISO criteria. This meant that the entire staff was intricately involved in the certification drive. The ISO environmental label is an important event for the plant, as well as for Schneider Electric Greece, which has three sites and 180 employees. Inofyta is one of the first Greek plants awarded ISO 14001.

    Environmental management
At present, two-thirds of Schneider Electric’s production facilities have received ISO 14001 certification.
Six plants were certified as soon as the standard was issued in 1996:
    - Le Vaudreuil and Libourne in France,
    - Marienheide in Germany,
    - Valencia in Spain,
    - Telford in the UK and Oxford,
    - Ohio in the US.
The Company is pursuing certification worldwide. In the United States, for example, all Schneider Electric plants have an environmental management system and will be certified to ISO 14001 standards in 2000-2001. The latest plant to receive certification was Inofyta in Greece (June 2000).
