Schneider Electric reinforces its low voltage activity in India
In keeping with its development strategy in India, Schneider Electric has acquired Crompton Greaves’ low voltage switchgear activity.
Crompton Greaves is one of the leaders on the consumer electrical equipment market in India. Its low voltage activity had a turnover of almost EUR 20 million in 1999-2000. This activity has a solid industrial base in Nashik (Maharashtra State) and a good profitability.
More than a third of this turnover was made on a MCCB (Molded Case Circuit Breaker) range, which gives Schneider Electric the leadership of the Indian market in this area.
With this acquisition, Schneider Electric opens itself to further development in India: it will benefit from Crompton Greaves’ distribution network, as well as the additional production capacity that will pave the way for the development of new low voltage solutions.
