The Schneider SA board of directors approves the succession of Didier Pineau-Valencienne
Didier Pineau-Valencienne has informed the Schneider SA board of directors of his decision to stand down from his position as Chairman of the Group in January 1999 and, with a view to ensuring continuity, has made the following proposal concerning his succession.
The board of directors has accepted his proposal to appoint:
> Henri Lachmann, member of Schneider's board since 1996, to the position of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Schneider to succeed Didier Pineau-Valencienne in January 1999.
> Jean-Paul Jacamon, Executive Vice-President of Schneider since June 1997, to the position of Vice-Chairman and Chief Operating Officer. It is therefore proposed to appoint him Director at the next General Shareholders' meeting.
